Il tema centrale di progetto è l’inserimento nelle campagne patrimonio Unesco senesi di una grande infrastruttura sportiva con grande carico antropico.

L’intervento proposto ha previsto dunque uno sviluppo della morfologia del territorio esistente posizionando le gradonate all’interno di una conca naturale, con un sviluppo organico e tangente alle linee di ingresso e uscita dal sito.

Il modello in creta realizzato, ha guidato l’analisi e la definizione degli inviluppi volumetrici, che vengono scomposti in tre lobi asimmetrici con proprie curvature anzichè le consuete quattro simmetriche contrapposte.

Il concorso, a scala urbana, rientra nel processo di ricostruzione seguente l’assedio di Sarajevo del 1992, che ha scosso l’Europa e i suoi equilibri per molti anni sul finire del secolo.

L’impianto proposto per tale ragione è stato quello di un unico organismo articolato in quattro nuove corti, dove le attività didattiche potessero sovrapporsi al recupero degli scambi e degli incontri sociali.

Un progetto di coesione dunque, e di ricucitura delle ferite inferte nel corpo delle persone come nel corpo della città, che ne diviene teatro e rappresentazione insieme.

Il tema della disabilità, ha dunque orientato il concept di progetto verso uno spazio ipogeo, attraversabile completamente tramite rampe e piani inclinati, in totale fusione con lo straordinario contesto naturale del sito di concorso, adagiato su un crinale di un lago.

Il progetto è stato finalista del premio Giovane Architettura dell’Accademia Nazionale di San Luca di Roma.

Il progetto del museo della celebre scuola d’arte e d’architettura, è un nodo urbano che intercetta tre direzioni di crescita intorno ad un nucleo centrale, una piazza coperta compresa tra un grande parco e il costruito storico.

Intorno a questo fulcro, si articolano i depositi visibili, i servizi e le sale espositive in unico movimento rotatorio, che tende ad infrangere rigidamente i volumi come schegge di un cristallo.

Il modello di studio in carta pressata, evidenzia il percorso esterno delle terrazze in successione, che divengono spazi pubblici sempre a disposizione della città.

Il nuovo centro per le arti e il design si inserisce nel piano di recupero delle ex Fonderie, un imponete complesso di archeologia industriale che ha segnato lo sviluppo sociale ed economico del territorio emiliano nel novecento.

La colonizzazione di questi spazi dall’interno, sono dunque caratteristica della proposta di progetto, che viene articolata in tre fasi temporali fino a sviluppare nuclei residenziali esterni, collegati da strade sospese.

Proseguendo il campo ortogonale delle campate strutturali originarie, il nuovo spazio urbano cresce e si stratifica in un programma di funzioni virtualmente mai concluso, come un sistema aperto alle future trasformazioni.
